FAQs

Before your trip

We’re sure you’ll have some questions about your holiday, whether it’s about us or what happens when you arrive. We hope to have answered them below in our FAQs, but please get in touch if there’s something else you’d like to know.

Why book with Magari?

At Magari, we believe the most rewarding and inspiring journeys are those that let you experience your destination in the truest and most engaging ways, which is why we think you should book with Magari Tours. Here’s how we do it.

Specially timed and original
We get right down to the nub of every location we visit, allowing you to experience its essence, and enjoy it at its purest, most original, and authentic best. Our tours take place at the cusps of the main tourist season, when the weather is pleasant and mild, and the peak crowds of summer are either yet to arrive or have already melted away.

Imaginative itineraries
Conveyor-belt itineraries aren’t our thing. Instead, we curate imaginative and extraordinary journeys that focus less on major tourist highlights and more on smaller, lesser-known locations and attractions. While we sometimes include big cities that we can’t in all conscience overlook, we put more emphasis on below-radar towns, villages, and hidden gems that are equally interesting and enchanting, and that are often quieter for being missed by standard tourist itineraries.

What is the Luggage Allowance?

Most of our flights are operated by British Airways.

British Airways Luggage Allowance is as follows:

Checked baggage – 1 Bag per person, up to 90 x 75 x 43cm, up to 23kg

Hand bag – 1 x Bag per person, up to 40 x 30 x 15cm, up to 23kg

Cabin bag – 1 x Bag per person, up to 56 x 45 x 25cm, up to 23kg

If we confirm a tour based on another flight operators schedule, we will publish their specific luggage allowance in good time.

Can you cater for special dietary needs?

Yes, of course. When booking your tour please ensure you special dietary needs are advised. Once you arrive and begin your tour, please reconfirm your dietary needs with your Tour Manager. Please note, whilst every effort is made to ensure your dietary needs are properly catered for, we cannot guarantee absolute satisfaction every time.

Is my money safe?

Yes, your money is safe with Magari Tours.

Magari Tours is a brand of Success Tours Ltd and owned by The Albatross Group, a collection of travel companies formed in 1985, which offers unmatched experience in creating and providing group tours. See The Albatross Group. As part of the group, Magari is ATOL-licenced and ABTOT protected, which means you can rest easy knowing that your money is secure, and you are fully financially safeguarded.

Do you sell insurance?

No, Magari does not sell insurance. However, most Travel Agents do offer their own or recommended insurance, or you can search online or ask your home or car insurer for details. You must make sure you have bought and paid for travel insurance BEFORE you travel, and be sure to check the small print for what you have covered.

What meals and food is included?

All of our tours include daily breakfast served at the hotel. Certain tours include special lunches, and dinners. Meals are enjoyed in various locations from your hotel to authentic local taverns, restaurants or bistros, to beautiful vineyards. On the days where lunch and/or dinner is not included you are provided time to discover a local restaurant of your own choice.

How do I book?

Please see your local Travel Agent, they can book with us.

What is the typical group size?

No trip will ever run with more than 26 passengers

Is my tour guaranteed to depart?

We strive to operate every tour and have based our pricing structure responsibly as we know how frustrating it is when escorted tours are cancelled. However, in the event of minimal bookings, we may have no option but to cancel the tour and offer a suitable alternative or a full refund.

How do I pay for my tour?

Please contact your travel agent who will usually take a deposit to secure your spot, then confirm when the balance is due.

Are Magari Tours accessible for those with a disability?

Magari takes reasonable steps to accommodate the needs of those with mobility impaired travellers and give assistance where possible, however due to the nature of our tours, where we explore small undiscovered parts of Italy, visiting more remote wineries or hillside farms, they may not be suitable without full mobility.

How does Magari Tours support sustainable travel?

We stay in privately run and family-owned hotels rooted in their communities rather than shiny multinational hotel chains: hand-picking each one for their locally supportive and sustainable practices. And we steer away from fine-dining and silver service, choosing instead the simple, honest cooking of rustic trattorias and hotel restaurants which take pride in preparing classic, unpretentious dishes in the way they have been served for centuries.

During your trip

Can I purchase optional excursions? / Are they optional excursions to buy in resort?

There is no need, all your excursions, attractions and guides are included in your holiday price.

Where will I meet the coach/tour leader in resort?

You will meet your tour leader upon arrival at your destination airport. They will be there waiting for your arrival and will escort you to your coach transportation.

Is there someone local, that I can speak to in an emergency or for help?

Yes, your tour manager will be present at all times and will be able to help in the case of an emergency.

How much walking is involved on your tours?

Our tours require a moderate level of fitness due to the unique places we visit and stay. On some occasions coach drop off points are 10 minutes or so walk away from an old town centre. If you are joining us on one of our walking tours, we recommend comfortable shoes and that you are able to walk at a moderate pace.

Are tips/gratuities included in the price?

No, gratuities for the tour manager and coach driver are at your discretion and payable at the end of your holiday
