Forget what you know, there’s more to Italy than meets the eye.

We’re Magari, the tour guide focusing solely on Italy so you can get to know the region beyond guidebooks. We’ve been touring since 1985 and have invested years in research to find the greatest locations and most immersive experiences.

As a firm believer in unique tours, our programmes operate with a maximum of 19 guests, ensuring intimate access to locations and experiences typically reserved for locals. Many of our visitors like to discover independently, so we always make sure you have time to explore your surroundings!

Italy wouldn’t be the same without its flavour. Favouring family-run accommodation and farm-to-table cuisine, sustainable practices and community care are at the heart of our tours.

Below, you can learn more about our favourite regions – now it’s time to find yours.

Magari’s Itinerary; Forever Thoughtful, Comfortable and Genuine

Over years of carefully listening to our guests, we have discovered details that make a trip more than special. Something as simple as running departures when the weather isn’t too hot, or favouring local restaurants and businesses.

If it isn’t well thought out, it isn’t worth it.

Thoughtful scheduling

Spring tours and Autumn departures ensure ‘just right’ temperatures, whilst June offers early summer vibrancy and avoids large crowds. Produce is at its most delicious at this time too – after all, Italian cuisine is what we’re here for!

We don’t like hidden costs

Your journey includes comfortable accommodation at family-operated properties, daily artisanal breakfast, and thoughtfully curated dining experiences. All entrance fees and airport transfers are integrated so there are no hidden costs.

Accessibility & comfort

Physically demanding tours might be great for some, but we prefer manageable terrain and flexible pacing. Guides adapt routes to suit you and multilingual experts ensure smooth communication. Our accommodations don’t lack history or modern comforts, our main goal is to make sure you wake up fresh and ready for the day.

Dining

We centre dining on authentic Italian cuisine while accommodating your dietary preferences. Our guided tours include daily fresh breakfasts from your hotel and relaxing evenings in trattorias and family-run eateries. Wine, cheese and chocolate tastings are essential when visiting Italy, but it’s even better hosted in local farms and agritourism estates.

It’s down to earth and straight from the earth.

Small groups

Intimate groups of no more than 19 like-minded travellers ensure meaningful connections and access to local experiences. There’s always time for personal exploration, allowing you to experience Italy’s authentic character at your own pace.

Sustainable tourism

Our commitment to responsible tourism runs through and through. We partner with family-operated hotels and restaurants, ensuring tourism revenue benefits local communities. Through carefully curated experiences, we help preserve authentic Italian traditions and craftsmanship, while fostering meaningful cultural exchange between visitors and communities. Each journey contributes to the economy of producers, artisans, and family restaurants that form the backbone of Italy’s cultural heritage.

Italian escorted tours of a lifetime

Our escorted holidays represent a thoughtful approach to Italian travel, offering access to authentic experiences while maintaining relaxing comfort levels. Each journey reveals Italy’s hidden character through carefully orchestrated encounters with local culture, cuisine, and traditions.

Magari [mah-gar-ee]: From the Italian meaning ‘I wish’, derived from the Greek ‘makários’ – expressing happiness and great fortune.
